We started the day by getting Elsa’s seal of approval for getting a towbar fitted to the EV3
We spent a happy afternoon shopping for ingredients and then cooking this roast duck with plum sauce for dinner with potatoes cooked in duck fat, beans and salad. Very nice too.
For dessert we had this rather enormous carrot cake which was fabulous.
We made quite good inroads into the cake.
I bought this wine for the plum sauce and also in case the “leader of the free world” popped round for a drink.

Its been a great start to the year, our friend Helen was kind enough to come down from Otaki and help me cook up a storm. Thanks very much everyone for your birthday greetings and here’s to 2026.

Young friend of mine, Paul O’Donnell – 65! How is that possible? (But then, 19 days from now I’ll turn 84, which seems weirdly unthinkable, but it’s true.)

HAPPY, HAPPY birthday Paul. The food looks magnificent, and such an appropriate way to celebrate.

Enjoy the freedom that comes with this transition!

    With love, Marjory
